Tosin Adarabioyo Added To Chelsea’s Conference League Squad
Chelsea Coach, Enzo Maresca has named the club’s new signing, Tosin Adarabioyo, in the club’s Conference League play-off squad.
The Sun reported that Tosin Adarabioyo was erroneously omitted from the Conference League play-off squad, which Chelsea announced on Tuesday.
The squad is scheduled to face Swiss Super League club, Servette FC in the first leg of the 2024-2025 UEFA Conference League play-off at Stamford Bridge on Thursday, August 22.
Adarabioyo, who moved to Chelsea on a free transfer earlier this summer, reportedly snubbed Newcastle United for the Stamford Bridge side due to the possibility of playing in European club competitions. Hence, it was a bit surprising that the 26-year-old Nigerian-born British centre-back wasn’t included in the initial squad.
While Adarabioyo has gotten a place in the squad, Raheem Sterling, Ben Chilwell and Wesley Fofana remain axed from the team ahead of the Conference League play-off.
Recall that coach Maresca also left out Sterling in the squad that lost 2-0 to Manchester City in their Premier League opener at Stamford Bridge last Sunday.
As for 21-year-old Levi Colwill, the English defender is not completely left out of the squad. He was added to the club’s B-list for the match, which will kick-off at 8 p.m. on Thursday.
