NPFL Updates: Enyimba Sign Sarki, Referees To Earn More, Nwagua Leaves Nigeria, Others

Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) club, Enyimba have completed the signing of Ismail Sarki from Bendel Insurance.

Sarki was the top scorer for Bendel Insurance last season, registering seven goals in the NPFL.

He declined an improved deal with the Benin Arsenals and will compete with Chijioke Mbaoma for Enyimba’s number nine position.

NPFL Increases Match Officials Salary

The NPFL has increased the salaries of match officials in the top flight by 50 per cent, as announced by the league’s chairman, Gbenga Elegbeleye.

This move aims to ensure fair and credible officiating in the league.

Negotiations are also underway to secure air transportation for referees and players.

The new season will kick off with defending champions, Rangers, playing against EL-Kanemi Warriors on Saturday, August 31.

Nyima Nwagua Leaves Nigeria

Nyima Nwagua, the captain of Rivers United, is set to join second-division side Al Sadd club in Saudi Arabia.

Upon arrival, he was welcomed by the club’s first team supervisor, Mohammad Al-Dosari.

Nwagua is expected to sign a one-year contract with the club after spending three years at Rivers United. He assumed the captaincy of the club at the beginning of last season.

Victor Ozor Okeke Leaves Nigeria

Victor Ozor Okeke, a former Golden Eaglets midfielder, has joined Allsvenskan champions Elfsborg of Sweden from Triple 44 Academy in Nigeria.

The 18-year-old signed a five-year contract with Elfsborg, following an impressive performance at the WAFU B Under-17 Championship in Ghana.

He joins Ibrahim Buhari as the second Nigerian player at Elfsborg.
