Council Funds Under Threat: PDP Takes Fight To Edo House Of Assembly

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Anambra State Chapter, has rejected the state’s local government chairmanship and councillorship election results.

Anambra PDP Chairman, Chigozie Igwe, accused Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) of rigging last Saturday’s election in favour of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) candidates.

Igwe, who made the accusation, on Monday, in an interview with newsmen, claimed that election materials were distributed in an unfair manner.

Naija News reported that the Chairperson of ANSIEC, Mrs. Genevieve Osakwe, declared chairmanship and councillorship candidates of the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, winners in the 21 local government councils and 326 wards.

Igwe explained that contrary to Mrs. Osakew’s claim of free and fair election, the election was a charade.

He stated that from the pre-election period to the election period, the process was not fair.

They gave us one month to prepare for the election, within that period we sold forms, screened nominees, conducted primary, campaign and met all the conditions.

“But on election day, ANSIEC sent materials and officials to where they liked, no result was released to anywhere including Zikdton primary school, Nza Ozubulu, where I voted.

“They conducted a charade in the name of election. So we are rejecting whatever result they released,” Igwe alleged.
