The head coach of Libya, Nasser Al-Hadiri, has set a target for his team ahead of their upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Nigeria.

Al-Hadiri believes that securing a draw in this crucial match against the Super Eagles in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state, would be a positive outcome for his team.

The Mediterranean Knights are set to face the Super Eagles in a matchday 3 encounter at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Friday, October 11, 2024. The match is scheduled to kick off at 5 p.m. on the said date.

Recall that Al-Hadiri was made the head coach of Libya’s national team barely three weeks before the forthcoming encounter.

Ahead of the match, the coach acknowledged the formidable reputation of the three-time African champions. He admitted that securing a win against Nigeria would be a challenging task.

Hence, he emphasized the team’s determination to secure at least one point from the away game.

“We realize that winning against Nigeria is difficult, but we seek to return with a draw that will be positive for us and restore our hope in competing for qualification,” the coach said, according to Libya News 24.

Currently, the North Africans find themselves at the bottom of Group D with just one point from two games. The upcoming match against Nigeria presents a crucial opportunity for Libya to revitalize their campaign and reignite their hopes of qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
