Update: Tinubu Appointed Immigration Service Boss For 18 Months
Reports have emerged that the Comptroller-General of Immigration Service, Kemi Nana Nandap, was given an express appointment for an 18-month period by President Bola Tinubu.
Naija News reports that this is contrary to the reports by Western Post which earlier reported that her tenure may have expired at the expiration of her 35 years in service last Thursday.
According to sources, Mrs. Nandap’s retirement became effective on Thursday, October 9, 2024, after completing 35 years of service.
Despite this, Nandap had remained silent on her impending exit, and NIS officials have yet to make any official statements.
By the rule, Nandap ought to have retired last Thursday, October 9, 2024.
But President Tinubu had appointed her as NIS CS for an 18-month tenure effective March 1, 2024.
This means her tenure will run till September next year.
Her letter of appointment was dated February 26, 2024.
Commissioned on 9th October 1989, Nandap completed her 35 years of service on the 9th of October, 2024, in accordance with the provision of the Public Service Rule 020908, which is applicabe to the NIS.
A member of the 22nd Basic Course of the NIS Training School, Kano, she rose steadily in the service and was appointed as Comptroller-General of Immigration (CGI).
