Tragedy As Sea Pirates Kill Four Civil Defence Oficers In Rivers

A recent altercation between Nigerian police officers and members of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) was caught on video, revealing a physical confrontation in broad daylight.

According to SaharaReporters, the incident reportedly took place at Elizabeth Estate in Abere, Osogbo, Osun State’s capital.

The dispute began on Tuesday when police officers arrived in the area, allegedly intending to detain a resident without an official warrant.

NSCDC personnel intervened, preventing the arrest. However, police officers returned on Thursday, this time with reinforcements, leading to a heated conflict.

In the video, the two security forces can be seen exchanging blows and slaps in a chaotic scene that has left onlookers concerned.

A resident who witnessed the events shared, “Some policemen on Tuesday wanted to arrest someone in the estate without a warrant of arrest but were stopped by the civil defence officers, so they (policemen) came back on Thursday, this time with more men to overpower the civil defence guys.

“They injured the guy being slapped by a policeman in mufti very well and later dragged him to police CID in Osogbo and sadly till now, their commandant (NSCDC) hasn’t done or said anything since.”

Efforts to reach Yemisi Opalola, the spokesperson for the Osun State Police Command, were unsuccessful, as calls and messages to her remained unanswered at the time of reporting.

Clashes between different security agencies in Nigeria have occurred in the past, raising concerns over cooperation and coordination among the nation’s security forces.
