Senator Kalu Decries Ministers Refusal To Honour Senate Invitations

The Senator representing Abia North District, Orji Uzor-Kalu, has said President Bola Tinubu’s foreign trips are good for the country.

Orji Uzor-Kalu said investors can only come into the country through the President’s diplomatic shuttles.

He stated that it would also increase the country’s Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).

Speaking on Monday in an Arise TV interview, the former governor of Abia State explained that Nigerian investors would also, through the President’s foreign trips, take advantage of investment opportunities in the foreign nations.

Let me be honest with you. President Tinubu, diplomatic shuttles between countries have been very good. I’m very impressed on that level. I’m not talking about tribalism now. I’m talking about the diplomatic shuttles the presidents have been doing. And it is good.

“That is only way we can succeed. That is only way we can have new investors. That is only way that when Nigerian companies open in the other countries, it means we are a step ahead. We can now have people from Nigeria going to France to work. And they’ll be able to work and earn money and send back home,” he said.

Senator Uzor-Kalu further called for an amendment to the country’s electoral laws to give room for diaspora voting.

He emphasized the need for diasporas to have a say in who gets elected in the country through their vote.

The diaspora, for example, is the greatest asset Nigeria should build. I would like the National Assembly to allow the diaspora inflow to follow with their vote. If you bring in money, the diaspora should also vote. And we should give a special place for the diasporas in our laws so that the incoming and inflow that will come from abroad will be enjoyed by people of Nigeria,” the Senator added.
