Nationa Library Will Be Symbol Of Hope When Completed - FG

The federal government has reiterated its commitment to ensuring early completion of the National Library project.

The Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, said the National Library when completed would be a symbol of hope, knowledge and unity, serving as a beacon for a new era in education.

He stated this on Wednesday during a meeting with the stakeholders driving the National Library project, contractors, consultants, TETFund, the Ministry’s Procurement Department, and senior National Library of Nigeria officials.

Naija News reports that the National Library project started in 2009. Alausa said the President Bola Tinubu administration was committed to “reactivating the stalled construction of this critical national project”.

Under the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Federal Ministry of Education (FME), Nigeria Education, is taking immediate steps to complete and commission the National Library, ensuring it becomes a vital space for millions of Nigerians seeking a place to study, learn, and grow.

“This Library will not just be a building. It will be a symbol of hope, knowledge, and unity, serving as a beacon for a new era in education,” he said.

The Minister of Education further disclosed that the reintroduction of Nigeria History into the school curriculum for primary, secondary and tertiary institutions would commence in 2025.

As we reintroduce Nigerian history into the curriculum — being released in 2025, for primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions, our Renewed Hope is that this Library will inspire a sense of pride in our heritage, provide a space for intellectual growth, and reignite patriotism among future generations. It is a testament to this government’s unwavering commitment to high-quality education for all and a brighter, united Nigeria,” Alausa added.
