Police Give Update On Kidnap Of 287 Kaduna Students By Bandits

Two people were reportedly killed as operatives from the Katsina State Police Command successfully thwarted a kidnapping attempt on Tuesday.

Confirming the incident in a statement made available to newsmen, the command’s spokesperson, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, said operatives rescued at least ten individuals who the assailants had kidnapped.

Sadiq reported that four of the rescued individuals suffered gunshot injuries during the attack by the bandits and were promptly taken to the hospital for urgent medical care.

He also mentioned that two of the victims succumbed to their injuries while receiving treatment, emphasizing that efforts are ongoing to capture the fleeing suspects as the investigation continues.

The police spokesperson recalled that on December 24th, 2024, at approximately 2030 hours, armed bandits attacked a commercial vehicle at Kwanar Makera along the Katsina to Magama Jibia road in Jibia Local Government Area, Katsina State, with the intent to abduct the ten occupants.

Upon receiving a distress call, the Divisional Police Officer responsible for Jibia quickly mobilized a team of officers to the scene, engaging the bandits in a gunfight, successfully thwarting the kidnapping attempt and rescuing all ten victims.

The Commissioner of Police for Katsina State, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, praised the officers for their efforts and urged them to maintain their vigilance, Naija News reports.

He also encouraged members of the public to report any information regarding suspected criminal activities to the nearest police station for prompt and effective action.
