Police Arrest 23 Cultists, Armed Robbery Suspects In Christmas Celebration Raid
At least twenty-three individuals suspected to be armed robbers and cultists who are seeking to cause violence during the Christmas festivities have been arrested by the Nigeria Police Force during the ongoing Christmas and New Year holidays.
The successful arrest was confirmed in a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
The force mouthpiece reported that on December 25, 2024, at approximately 1 am, police officers from the Lagos State Command responded to an emergency call regarding a group of armed individuals operating in the Safejo area of Amukoko, Lagos State.
Following this alert, Adejobi noted that the prompt action of the command resulted in the arrest of three suspects, identified as Emmanuel Okoli, Ogunde Tejiri, and Emmanuel Orji.
Additionally, the statement highlighted that police personnel from the Saminaka Division of the Kaduna State Command, on the same day at around 8 pm, apprehended Sule Muhammad, who is believed to be involved in several kidnapping cases in the Saminaka region.
Further investigations revealed that a modified AK-47 rifle was recovered from the suspect, who admitted to being part of a notorious kidnapping gang that had been evading capture since the arrest of other gang members on August 16, 2024.
