Ruben Amorim Urges Manchester United To Forget About Top Four Finish
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has stressed that he is focused on immediate goals following a challenging streak, which has seen the team experience four defeats in five Premier League matches.
In their recent match on Boxing Day, United lost 2-0 to Wolves, with Matheus Cunha and Hwang Hee-chan finding the net for the home side. This marks a difficult phase for the team, as they have now suffered three consecutive losses, conceding a total of nine goals.
Currently, United sit in 14th place in the league, just seven points above the relegation zone. When asked about the need to be wary of teams below them in the standings, Amorim stated: “At this moment, we have to focus on survival and aim to secure some wins.”
The manager also mentioned the necessity of shifting their mindset away from European competition for the time being. “We need to concentrate on our immediate challenges,” he said, stressing the importance of addressing various issues both on and off the pitch.
Regarding striker Marcus Rashford’s absence from the squad, Amorim affirmed his commitment to sticking with his decisions. He maintains that Rashford has yet to demonstrate the necessary form to warrant a return to the team. This decision comes after Rashford was left out for the fourth consecutive match during the defeat to Wolves.
After the game, Amorim conveyed his resolve, stating, “I must remain consistent in my approach, whether we win or lose. If we are facing setbacks, I must become even stronger in my decisions. If a player isn’t available, it’s up to us to adapt and move forward.”
