Your Friends And Govt Officials Are The Only Ones Benefiting From Your Reforms – Rhodes-Vivour Hits Tinubu
The 2023 governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in Lagos State, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, says the reforms introduced by President Bola Tinubu are not beneficial to Nigerians.
He argued that the majority of Nigerians have been plunged into hardship and suffering as a result of the reforms introduced by President Tinubu since assuming power in May 2023.
Speaking on Thursday as a guest on Channels Television’s Politics Today, the LP chieftain said 70 per cent of Nigerians now spend all of their incomes on only transportation and food.
Rhodes-Vivour submitted that the only people who seem to be benefitting from the reforms were the bankers, the people in government, and the President’s friends.
He said: “The people are experiencing unprecedented hardship. Today, over 70 per cent of people’s income is spent on transportation and food. They’ve not even started to think about how they can afford accommodation,” the LP chieftain said on Thursday’s edition of Channels Television’s Politics Today.
“We have a situation where there is a culture of wastefulness, and extravagance that does not reflect the dire economic situation that the same President is pushing out that needs to be reformed.
“The only people that seem to be benefitting from these reforms are maybe the bankers, the people in government, and the President’s friends. How many Nigerians can say they are benefitting from any reform any reform right now?”
Naija News reports upon assumption of office, President Tinubu had implemented the removal of fuel subsidy and the floating of the naira, two major policies that have set off high inflation rates in the country.
