Emmanuel Agbadou Leaves Stade de Reims For English Premier League Club
Wolverhampton Wanderers have made an exciting addition to their squad by signing the captain of Stade de Reims, Emmanuel Agbadou, on a four-and-a-half-year contract with an option for an additional year.
The announcement marks Emmanuel Agbadou as the first signing under new manager Vitor Pereira.
Standing tall at 6 feet 4 inches, Agbadou is recognized for his strong defensive abilities and composure with the ball. He joins Wolves after demonstrating his skills over two and a half successful seasons in Ligue 1.
His journey to the Premier League showcases his consistent performances and leadership qualities, particularly marked by his captaincy at Reims since last summer.
Agbadou, 27, began his professional career in Tunisia with Monastir, later making 64 appearances in the Belgian Pro League with Eupen. His transfer to France allowed him to solidify his place as a key defender for Reims, where he made 15 appearances this season, concluding with impressive clean sheets against Strasbourg and Monaco.
Internationally, Agbadou has also shone, becoming an integral player for the Ivory Coast, starting in five of their six qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations, helping the team secure a place in the tournament.
Wolves Sporting director Matt Hobbs discussed Agbadou’s attributes that position him well for the challenges of the Premier League.
He said, “Emmanuel is a determined winner, driven by his experiences and still hungry to succeed. Wolves fans will appreciate him for bringing 100% effort to every match. He possesses qualities that align well with the demands of the Premier League.
“While settling in may take time, his essential traits are suitable for this competitive league. The fact that he was identified by both our recruitment team and Vitor demonstrates his well-rounded skill set—he is strong, quick, good on the ball, and has a positive demeanor. His recent elevation to captaincy at Reims has further enhanced his game, and we are always looking to add leaders to our squad.”
