Agbor Tanker Explosion: Gov Oborevwori Orders Support For Victims

The Delta State government has dismissed rumors suggesting that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori plans to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Naija News reports that for the past three weeks, speculation has been rife about the governor’s alleged intention to leave the PDP for the APC.

Addressing the rumors during a press conference on Monday in Asaba, Charles Aniagwu, the state commissioner for Works (Rural Roads and Public Information), refuted the claims.

Aniagwu emphasized that Governor Oborevwori remains a committed member of the PDP and has no plans to switch allegiance now or in the future.

The Commissioner, who recently assumed responsibility for the state’s Information Ministry in addition to his role in the Works Ministry, stated: “We have seen a whole lot of publications in different places, including those that are insinuating that he is leaving the PDP.”

He further highlighted the governor’s dedication to governance, adding that Oborevwori is focused on delivering on his mandate rather than engaging in political battles.

Governor Oborevwori is not interested in fighting any political battles but would steadfastly continue to reply to critics with massive projects delivery ahead of 2027. His business, at the moment, is governance and he is not going to lose sight of it. Because of side talks and because he believes that this is not the time to begin to play politics, what he is doing at the moment is to ensure that he keeps faith with all Deltans,” Aniagwu noted.

The commissioner, alongside the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Festus Ahon, also spoke about Oborevwori’s ongoing efforts to foster development and unity across Delta State.
