Ex-Sokoto Governor, Attahiru Bafarawa Resigns From PDP, Focuses On Youth Empowerment
Former Governor of Sokoto State, Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to dedicate himself to a youth-focused empowerment initiative.
In a letter dated January 8, 2025, addressed to the PDP National Chairman, Bafarawa described his decision as “deeply personal and challenging. ”
Naija News reports that the former governor said his decision aligns with his new vision of inspiring and uplifting young Nigerians.
Bafarawa explained that his resignation was necessitated by his desire to concentrate on creating opportunities for young people.
“I have recently dedicated myself to a youth initiative focused on inspiring, empowering, and changing the lives of our young individuals, who are the cornerstone of our nation’s future,” he stated in the letter.
The former governor emphasized that his decision was not a criticism of the PDP but rather an effort to avoid any conflict of interest as he transitioned into this new role.
“My main focus will now be to generate chances for youth empowerment, encourage innovation, and advance principles that will guarantee a thriving future for everyone,” Bafarawa added.
Bafarawa expressed gratitude for his experiences within the PDP and acknowledged the party’s contributions to Nigeria’s political progress.
“I remain grateful for the opportunities I had to serve within the PDP. I also appreciate the leadership and members for their commitment to promoting democracy,” he noted.
