Lagos Lawmakers Visit Governor Sanwo-Olu
Members of the Lagos State House of Assembly have visited governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the Lagos House in Marina.
Naija News reports that the lawmakers who left the Assembly Complex in the early morning on Tuesday, went in a white civilian bus while the Speaker of the House, Rt (Hon) Mojisola Lasbat Meranda went with her jeep.
Although, the purpose of the visit was unknown as at filing this report, but political observers argued that it may not be unconnected with the impeachment of the immediate past Speaker of the House, Hon. Mudashiru Obasa.
Naija News reports that Meranda’s emergence follows the impeachment of Obasa, who served as Speaker for nearly a decade.
Obasa was removed on Monday by more than two-thirds of the 40-member Assembly over allegations of misconduct and financial mismanagement.
The lawmaker representing Agege Constituency I was first elected to the House in 2007 and became Speaker in June 2015. His impeachment marks the end of his lengthy tenure as leader of the legislative house.
Meranda, who previously served as Obasa’s deputy, now holds the distinction of being the first female Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly.
