Veteran Nollywood actress, Stella Damasus has disclosed that her family name was changed during the Nigerian civil war.

According to the actress, her family name was initially Ojukwu before the civil war forced them to change it in order to avoid attack and criticism.

She said this during an interview with popular media personality, Ebuka Obi Uchendu.

While reacting to the mistake people make with her name, ‘Damasus’, she explained that her family’s name was assumed to be related to the late Biafran war general, Ojukwu.

Ebuka said; ” It was interesting that so many people didn’t even understand that your surname was not what it was. So many people were shocked at the revelation, are you as shocked as a lot of people were?”

Stella responded, “Damasus is my granddaughter’s first name. It’s a Greek name. My original surname was Ojukwu but that changed during the Biafran war when my people were attacked in Asaba because they thought it was the same Ojukwu.

“I was born into Damasus, and when I asked why, that was the reason they gave me.”

In other news, former Big Brother Naija Housemate, Venita Akpofure, has made a controversial social media post after her ex-lover, Adekunle Olopade, spoke about their relationship.

Naija News reports that Adekunle, during the latest episode of the ‘Deks & Friends’ podcast, expressed his regret about dating Venita while in Big Brother’s house.

Reflecting on his journey into the BBNaija house, Adekunle said getting into a relationship was not part of his plan during the reality TV show.

He said, “If there is anything I could change about my time in the house, it would be me getting into a relationship. That was not part of my plan.”

However, in a post via her X handle on Tuesday, Venita wrote, “Please MOVE ON in the name of Jesus Amen.”
