Tinubu Meets Kagame, Advocates Intra-African Collaboration In UAE
President Bola Tinubu met with Rwandan President Paul Kagame on Monday in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, ahead of the 2025 edition of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW).
Tinubu posted the details of their meeting on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, emphasizing the potential for Africa’s self-development.
In his statement, Tinubu underscored the need for Africa to leverage its resources, people, and capacity for growth.
He wrote, “This evening, on the eve of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, I had meaningful conversations with Rwandan President Paul Kagame.
“Africa has what it takes to develop itself. We have the resources, the people, and the capacity. We must look inward to improve intra-African tr/e and collaboration to benefit the African people and the continent. The time for Africa is now. We can. We must. We will.”
Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week
Naija News understand that the President is in the UAE at the invitation of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the country’s president, to attend the ADSW 2025 summit.
The summit, which will run from January 12 to 18, will focus on “The Nexus of Next: Supercharging Sustainable Progress. ” It will bring together global leaders, policymakers, and business executives to accelerate sustainable development and socio-economic progress.
Tinubu is expected to deliver a keynote speech highlighting his administration’s reforms in energy efficiency, transportation, public health, and economic growth.
During the visit, Tinubu and his delegation, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, will discuss strengthening economic and diplomatic relations with UAE leadership.
