Yuletide: Police Arrest Robbers, Recover Arms In Enugu

The Benue State command of the Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the discovery of two firearms manufacturing facilities located in the Guma and Kwande local government areas of the state.

Naija News reports that this information was made public in a statement issued on Tuesday, January 14, by the state Commissioner of Police, Steve Yabanet.

The Commissioner indicated that, acting on reliable intelligence regarding the production of weapons at Mbaafa, Adikpo, in Kwande LGA, detectives were dispatched to the locations for further investigation.

On January 11, law enforcement officials raided a gun manufacturing site in Mbaafa, resulting in the arrest of two individuals, Friday Aduduakamve and Iorwashima Iornyume, also known as AK-35.

The Commissioner reported that during the search of the facility, the team seized nine manufactured pistols and an incomplete AK-47 rifle, among other items.

Additionally, he mentioned that another firearms manufacturing site was located in Daudu, Guma LGA, where further weapons were confiscated.

“As police detectives began intelligence gathering on criminal activities in Daudu, information was received that one Meme Ihoon, 50 years old, was responsible for all short arms being used by kidnappers, armed robbers, and cultists in Daudu.

“During the investigation, the said suspect was arrested on January 10; six dane guns and three long pipes used for fabricating guns were recovered from his house.

“The suspect confessed to having been producing and selling arms. Investigation is ongoing to arrest other criminals connected with the case,” the police spokesman said.
