APC Speaks On Tinubu's Involvement In Obasa's Impeachment

The Lagos State House of Assembly has remained calm, with scaled-down security and noticeable changes in operations.

Naija News reports that the development comes after the impeachment of former Speaker Mudashiru Obasa.

Sources who spoke with TheNation revealed that lawmakers paid a visit to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu earlier, but no details have been shared regarding the discussions.

Lawmakers have reportedly been instructed to withhold information for now, with updates expected in due course.

Security personnel at key positions within and around the Assembly premises have been replaced, but the overall security presence has been reduced.

Notably, the Assembly’s mace, which was reportedly targeted by thugs allegedly loyal to the former speaker, has been secured in a safer location.

Activities within the Assembly is slow, with many of Obasa’s former appointees absent from the premises.

“Things are moving slowly at the Assembly, likely in anticipation of directives from the new Speaker,” a source stated.

Obasa was removed on Monday after a near 10-year tenure as Speaker. He was replaced by his former deputy, Mojisola Lasbat Meranda, who has become the first female Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly.

Meranda’s appointment as Speaker had since received endorsement from Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC).
