There Will Be Problem In Nigeria If Anything Happens To Peter Obi – LP Chairman Warns
The Chairman of Labour Party (LP) in Enugu State, Casmir Agbo, has urged critics to desist from attacking the 2023 presidential candidate of the party, Peter Obi.
He argued that Obi’s statement on the poor state of the nation does not warrant the criticism he is facing.
He warned that there would be consequences in Nigeria if anything should happen to the former Anambra Governor.
Addressing newsmen in Enugu, Agbo said that the anti-Obi reactions meant that true democracy was not in practice in the country.
He said, “If anything happens to Peter Obi, there will be problems in Nigeria.
“We don’t have democracy in Nigeria. From 1999 to 2023, our electoral process has been by selection. What we practise is gangsterism democracy. Obi’s complaints are not the first of its kind. At a time, former President Muhammadu Buhari wept that his mandate was stolen.
“We are mocking ourselves and democracy. This is a country that professors rig elections. Obi’s state of the nation’s press conference was in line with the tenets of democracy.”
He said the reactions from APC to Obi’s points were in contrast to President Tinubu’s activism during the military era.
According to him, “It is surprising because Tinubu is a product of NADECO, which fought the military to standstill.
“During the era of former President Goodluck Jonathan, Tinubu and his likes said all sorts of things against him. Nobody arrested them. This shows that it is not easy to be in the opposition in Africa.
“If anything happens to Peter Obi for speaking the minds of many Nigerians, this country will never remain the same again.
“I advise this government to be guided by our constitution. Tinubu shouldn’t be afraid of criticisms. He should be democratic enough.”
