PaulO Fires Back At Spyro, Releases Proof Of ₦12 Million Investment
Nigerian promoter and talent manager, Paul Okoye popularly known as PaulO has addressed claims by singer, Spyro that he never made money while signed to the show promoter’s record label.
In a fresh interview he granted, Spyro claimed he was signed to a record label owned by PaulO who owned three Rolls Royce but that he didn’t make a dime in the two years he was signed to the label.
He alleged that he had to borrow money from Paulo if he needed to do anything. The singer said that PaulO is a kind man but doesn’t understand the business of managing a record label.
Reacting to Spyro’s allegation, PaulO shared a spreadsheet showing payments made on Spyro’s behalf while the singer was signed to his record label and stated that he spent a total of ₦12 million on Spyro but never made any return from investing in the singer.
In other news, Spyro, has accused music executive and talent manager, Ubi Franklin, of using the name of Afrobeat singer, Davido, to scam him.
Naija News reports that the ‘Who’s Your Guy’ crooner made the accusation during an interview on ‘The Link Up’ podcast.
Spyro said Ubi used Davido’s name to get him to perform at an event, claiming that the singer would pay after the performance.
According to him, while raising concerns about the payment at the event, Ubi Franklin immediately gave him the microphone, and the MC announced that he was coming on stage to perform.
Spyro also stated that after the performance, he questioned Ubi about his payment. However, the talent manager told him not to tell Davido about it because the singer did not ask him to perform.
Spyro described the incident as a broad daylight scam, saying, “I have an issue with Ubi Franklin. Ubi just came down and said David said we should come perform at the birthday party that he was invited to that he was going to give us 5k. I called him to the side and said ‘bro first of all, I don’t charge 5k.’ My Nigerian currency wey I dey charge, the least I would do is N20 million.
“On getting there, David was on stage, he came back from the stage and Ubi just came to me, he said ‘you’re going on the stage now’ before you know it, MC don announce, Spyro! And right after, I said okay Ubi, shebi you don sha make me, I don perform now, where my money wey you say David say him go give us?
“He said ‘no don’t go and buzz David o, he’s not the one actually, let me tell you the truth, he’s not the one that said you guys should come and do the show’. I was like are you kidding me? So David doesn’t even know anything about this, so you just used David’s name, this is broad daylight scam bro!”
