Trump To Issue Sweeping Immigration Orders After Swearing-In
Incoming US President Donald Trump is set to sign a series of executive orders aimed at reshaping the nation’s approach to citizenship and immigration, an administration official revealed on Monday.
Naija News understande that the 47th president, who campaigned on a hardline immigration platform, plans to move swiftly after his inauguration with policies designed to significantly curb migrant entry into the United States.
Incoming White House Deputy Press Secretary, Anna Kelly, said, “We are going to declare a national emergency at the border.
“The Executive Order directs the military to prioritize our borders and territorial integrity.”
The move signals Trump’s renewed focus on border security, a cornerstone of his previous administration, as he works to address concerns from supporters worried about changing demographics.
Ending Asylum And Birthright Citizenship
In one of the most controversial measures, Trump’s administration plans to eliminate birthright citizenship, a practice rooted in the 14th Amendment of the US Constitution that grants citizenship to anyone born on American soil.
Kelly explained that the executive actions would “clarify” the interpretation of the amendment.
“The federal government will not recognize automatic birthright citizenship for children of illegal aliens born in the United States,” she said.
Additionally, the administration intends to abolish the asylum process entirely, replacing it with an immediate removal policy for migrants. “We’re going to end asylum and create an immediate removal process without the possibility of asylum,” Kelly added.
