Bandit Leader Dogo Gide Kills 20 Boko Haram Fighters In Supremacy Battle
Notorious bandit leader Dogo Gide has reportedly killed 20 Boko Haram fighters from the Sadiku faction in a fierce supremacy battle in the North-West.
Gide, who also seized a cache of weapons during the clash, made his victory claim in a video that has since circulated online.
The video shows Gide addressing his rivals and displaying seized items, which included ten AK-47 rifles, RPGs, mobile phones, and an identity card allegedly linked to the Sadiku faction.
Security expert, Zagazola Makama, who shared insights into the incident, quoted Gide as saying, “Sadiku and his group ambushed us, but we prevailed. Only one of our men was injured, while at least 20 of their men were killed.”
Naija News learnt that Gide also accused the Sadiku faction of hypocrisy, condemning them for killing women, children, and innocent people under the guise of jihad.
Makama noted that the ongoing rivalry between Dogo Gide and the Sadiku-led Boko Haram faction appears to be rooted in personal and strategic disputes.
“Gide, once an ally of Boko Haram, turned against the group after his brother, Sani, was killed in 2023. Since then, he has vowed to avenge his brother’s death and has worked to expel Boko Haram elements from his area of influence,” Makama explained.
Gide’s recent operations have targeted the Shiroro Local Government Area in Niger State, where he reportedly dismantled Boko Haram roadblocks along the Kuruba-Uduwa highway.
In his address to local communities, Gide pleaded for forgiveness and pledged to restore normalcy in the region. He encouraged displaced villagers to return to their homes, assuring them of safety.
Gide’s actions are believed to be driven by a combination of personal vendettas and a bid to consolidate control over lucrative criminal enterprises such as cattle rustling and kidnapping in the region.
