Fenerbahce Sign Diego Carlos From Aston Villa

Turkish giants Fenerbahce have signed center-back Diego Carlos from Aston Villa for an undisclosed fee.

Diego Carlos who joined Villa from Sevilla in 2022, has agreed to a three-and-a-half-year contract with the Turkish club. Reports indicate that Fenerbahce are paying around 10 million euros (£8.45 million) for the 31-year-old player.

Aston Villa expressed their best wishes for Carlos as he embarks on this new chapter in his career. During his time at Villa, he made 58 appearances and scored one goal but has not been featured in the last five matches.

Under the management of Jose Mourinho, Fenerbahce currently stand second in the Turkish Super Lig, just six points behind the leaders, Galatasaray.

Meanwhile, the possibility of Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford moving to Borussia Dortmund this winter seems to be diminishing.

Recently, it was reported that Rashford’s representatives have been in talks with several clubs after he expressed a desire for a new challenge.

Dortmund were among those interested; however, his significant wages of £350,000 per week appear to be a barrier, even for a short-term deal.

Dortmund had initially been keen on signing Rashford, hoping he could make an impact similar to that of Jadon Sancho last season.

Manchester United have been open to a deal structured with a loan fee and performance-related bonuses. However, the situation has become more complex following the recent sacking of head coach Nuri Sahin after the team’s defeat by Bologna in the Champions League, marking their fourth consecutive loss.
