Enzo Maresca Plays Down Chelsea’s Interest In Alejandro Garnacho
Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has addressed the club’s interest in Alejandro Garnacho amidst speculation that the young Argentine winger may leave Manchester United in the upcoming January transfer window.
Garnacho has emerged as a potential target for Chelsea as they aim to bolster Maresca’s squad, especially following a positive performance in their last match.
However, Manchester United appear reluctant to part with the 20-year-old star, although financial considerations may influence their decision, especially with Napoli also vying for his services.
Napoli’s manager, Antonio Conte, is keen on bringing Garnacho on board to fill the gap left by Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who has transferred to Paris Saint-Germain.
During his pre-match press conference ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League clash with Manchester City, Enzo Maresca emphasized his satisfaction with the current attacking options at his disposal.
When asked about the links to Garnacho, he stated, “I’m content with what we have at this moment. On the right, we have Pedro Neto and Noni Madueke, and on the left, there’s Jadon Sancho. While Misha [Mykhailo Mudryk] is not with us, Tyrique George is a young talent who can contribute.”
As Chelsea gear up for their match against Manchester City, following a 3-1 victory over Wolves, Maresca provided an update on his squad. He reported that both Levi Colwill and Enzo Fernandez “could be ready” for the game at the Etihad Stadium, though Romeo Lavia will miss the opportunity to face his former club.
Maresca noted that all three players were absent during Monday’s victory against Wolves but remained optimistic about their recovery. “It depends on today’s session, but Levi and Enzo could be available,” he said.
Additionally, Maresca provided reassurance regarding Cole Palmer, who was a doubt for the match.
