In the Europa League, seven teams have secured their places in the knockout stages for this season, showcasing their strong performances throughout the league phase. The confirmed teams are Lazio, Anderlecht, Athletic Club, Frankfurt, Galatasaray, Lyon, and Manchester United.
Athletic Club were the first to guarantee their progression by achieving a 2-0 victory against Fenerbahçe on Matchday 6. Following this, six teams advanced in Thursday’s fixtures, with Lyon drawing 0-0 at Fenerbahçe, Anderlecht experiencing a 2-0 loss at Viktoria Plzen, and Frankfurt winning 2-0 against Ferencváros. Lazio impressed with a 3-1 win over Real Sociedad, while Manchester United narrowly defeated Rangers 2-1 at Old Trafford.
Despite these successes, no team has confirmed an automatic Round of 16 place yet. Lyon currently leads the league phase with 19 points after seven matches, closely followed by Frankfurt with 16 points.
This season marks the inaugural campaign of the Europa League under the new league phase format, where the top eight teams will advance directly to the round of 16, while those finishing from ninth to 24th will enter the play-offs to secure their spots in the final 16.
