Tinubu Mourns Victims Of Enugu Tanker Explosion, Issues Directive To Traffic Control Agencies

President Bola Tinubu has commiserated with the government and the people of Enugu State over the fuel tanker explosion, which resulted in the loss of lives on Saturday.

Naija News reported that a petrol tanker fell at Ugwu Onyeama in Enugu North, Enugu State, on Saturday, killing about 15 persons.

In a statement through his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu called for caution and adherence to safety measures among road users, particularly fuel tanker operators.

President Tinubu also directed traffic control agencies to enforce extra measures to prevent recurring fuel tanker explosions across the country.

The statement reads, “President Bola Tinubu condoles with the government and the people of Enugu state over the fuel tanker explosion, which resulted in the loss of lives on Saturday.

“The fuel tanker reportedly spiralled out of control and burst into flames while navigating the Ugwu-Onyeama section of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway.

“President Tinubu commiserates with the families of the deceased and the injured and prays for the repose of the souls of the departed and quick recovery for those receiving medical treatment.

“The President calls for caution and adherence to safety measures among road users, particularly fuel tanker operators.

“Furthermore, he directs agencies in charge of enforcing traffic rules to implement measures to prevent recurring fuel tanker explosions nationwide.”
