Legal practitioner, Stan Alieke, representing singer Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, has announced his withdrawal from his case following his second release from prison.

Naija News reports that Darlington was released after the court granted him ₦20m in bail in his ongoing defamation case with fellow Nigerian artist, Burna Boy.

However, speaking via a statement shared on his Instagram story on Sunday evening, Alieke, who heads the Law Capitol firm, announced his decision to withdraw from representing Speed Darlington.

He said, “I & my law firm (Law Capitol) have officially withdrawn from legally representing Mr. Darlington Achakpo, AKA Speed Darlington/Akpi, & henceforth cease to act as his legal attorneys.”

Darlington was released from police custody after spending two months behind bars following his arrest on November 27 while performing at a show in Owerri, Imo State, over allegations of cyberstalking Grammy award-winning musician Burna Boy.

Darlington had taunted Burna Boy regarding his relationship with embattled U.S. rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, who is currently facing multiple charges of sex trafficking.

In other news, Speed Darlington, has survived a gunshot attack while leaving a club in Lagos.

Naija News reports that Akpi, as he is fondly called, made this known in a post via his Instagram page on Monday.

Darlington claimed that a certain individual sent killers to him because there must be truth in what he has been saying.

The singer shared a video of his driver attesting to the gunshot and the policemen who witnessed the incident.

He captioned the video, “Long face send killers my way and I haven’t even post anything. Broooooo!! Is this necessary? You try to take my life 🙈 really?”
