The Confederation of African Football (CAF) will host the draw for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco later today, January 27.

The draw will determine the opponents for the Super Eagles of Nigeria at the 2025 AFCON which is scheduled to take place in Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.

Ranked as the fifth-best team in Africa, Nigeria’s Super Eagles are positioned in Pot 1 alongside other strong teams, including seven-time champions Egypt, reigning Cup holders Ivory Coast, two-time winners Algeria, hosts Morocco, and 2021 champions Senegal.

This advantageous seeding means Nigeria will avoid facing other top-seeded teams in the group stage, although they may encounter formidable opponents from Pot 2, which features teams like Cameroon, Mali, Tunisia, South Africa, DR Congo, and Burkina Faso.

Pot 3 is occupied by Gabon, Angola, Zambia, Uganda, Equatorial Guinea, and the Benin Republic, while Pot 4 includes Mozambique, Comoros, Tanzania, Sudan, Zimbabwe, and Botswana.

Representing the Super Eagles at this significant event will be new head coach Éric Chelle, team administrator Dayo Enebi, and chairman of the NFF Technical and Development Committee, Sharif Inuwa.

The draw will take place at the Mohammed V National Theatre in Rabat at 7:00 pm Nigerian time.

This upcoming tournament marks Nigeria’s 21st appearance at AFCON. Recall that the Eagles secured qualification for the tournament in November 2024 with two matches to spare.
