Tinubu Arrives Tanzania For Africa Energy Summit
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, ahead of the Mission 300 Africa Energy Summit, scheduled to commence on Monday.
The President, who touched down at 10:20 p.m. local time (8:20 p.m. Nigerian time) on Sunday, was warmly received by Tanzania’s Minister of State in the Office of the President, Ali Suleiman Ameir.
The two-day summit is jointly organized by the Government of Tanzania, the African Union, the African Development Bank Group, and the World Bank Group, with a focus on achieving universal energy access across the continent.
On the first day, the summit will feature ministerial-level presentations where participating nations, including Nigeria, will unveil their national energy strategies.
These compacts will outline each country’s approach to achieving universal energy access within five years.
Nigeria is expected to showcase its ongoing efforts and strategies in energy delivery during the session.
The second day will culminate in the endorsement of the Dar es Salaam Energy Declaration by African Heads of State.
The declaration aims to provide a unified roadmap for achieving the Mission 300 objectives and accelerating Africa’s progress in the energy sector.
President Tinubu will deliver a national statement reaffirming Nigeria’s leadership role in Africa’s energy landscape.
According to the President’s Special Adviser on Energy, Olu Verheijen, Tinubu will highlight Nigeria’s clean energy initiatives and its commitment to integrated energy delivery systems across the continent.
President Tinubu is accompanied by a high-profile delegation, including Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu; Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu; and other senior government officials.
The Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed in a statement that President Tinubu will return to Abuja immediately after the summit.
