BIOGRAPHY
Brother of actor Edwin Hodge , Aldis Hodge was born in Jacksonville, North Carolina and raised in New York. If he learned to play the violin and the clarinet during his childhood, it was in comedy that he would flourish. He appeared for the first time on screen at just 9 years old in A Day in Hell – Die Hard 3 . Since his adolescence, he has made numerous appearances, mainly on television, in series like Buffy the Vampire Slayer , Charmed , Urgences and My Most Beautiful Years .

Once an adult, with the exception of a few films like Ladykillers by the Coen brothers and Edmond by Stuart Gordon , it was always on the small screen that his career continued. After participating in a handful of episodes of season 1 of Friday Night Lights , a series devoted to American football in a high school, in 2008 he landed one of the main roles in Leverage . For five seasons, this program follows a gang of crooks who rob the richest criminals and corrupt big bosses.

The end of the series in 2012 allowed Aldis Hodge to further shine in the cinema. After the following ecoterrorist thriller The East , he reunited with John McClane in the fifth part of the Die Hard saga, entitled Beautiful Day to Die . He then plays MC Ren in the biopic NWA: Straight Outta Compton which looks back on the origins of the American rap group, rubs shoulders with Tom Cruise in Jack Reacher: Never Go Back , and plays Janelle Monáe ‘s husband in Shadow Figures .

He returns to the small screen in two series in costumes. The first, Underground , follows a group of slaves on a Georgia plantation who attempt to escape to find their freedom. The second, titled TURN: Washington’s Spies , features a Long Island farmer who forms an unlikely group of spies with friends aimed at turning the tide in the struggle for American independence.

In 2019, he was a death row inmate in Clemency , winner of the Grand Prix at Sundance, then the following year played the childhood friend and protector of Elisabeth Moss in Invisible Man . We also see him on Prime Video in One Night in Miami, in the shoes of American football star Jim Brown. This film is the fictional account of a night where Brown, Muhammad Ali, Malcolm X and Sam Cooke come together to discuss their roles in the civil rights movement.

At the same time, he returned to television during the three seasons of City on a Hill , where he formed a duo with Kevin Bacon who investigated a case capable of overturning Boston’s criminal justice system. In 2022, the actor is in the spotlight thanks to his role as Carter Hall, aka Hawkman, member of the Justice League in the blockbuster Black Adam . A role for which Aldis Hodge underwent intense physical training in order to compete with the musculature of Dwayne Johnson , who plays the title role.
