Biography of Alejandro Villanueva

Alejandro Villanueva Martín was born on September 22, 1988 in Meridian, Mississippi. He was born in a naval air base because his father, Ignacio Villanueva, worked for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) as a naval officer. His mother, Matilda Martin was a housewife. He is the eldest of his parents’ four children and his siblings are Paloma, Iñaki and Carmen Villanueva. Alejandro is of Spanish descent, as are both of his parents.

He then started playing for the Black Knights army in college. He struggled to adapt at first (from rugby to football) but he eventually did and when that happened he was the team’s wallet and was used at various sports positions. Alejandro played as a defensive lineman, offensive tackle, left tackle, tight end and wide receiver. He also received his MBA from the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University. He enrolled in 2015 and completed his 32-month course in 2018.

When Alejandro graduated from the United States Military Academy at Westpoint in 2010, he attempted to play football but was not drafted in the 2010 NFL Draft. He then attempted to land a contract with the Bengals of Cincinnati. Villanueva then decided to return to the army. After his military service, he gave football another chance, this time with the Chicago Bears, but he has yet to qualify. After attending an NFL scout gathering in Georgia, he was among 240 candidates selected for the next regional gathering in Detroit.

He was signed by the Philadelphia Eagles as a defensive end on May 5, 2014, although he was unused. Three months later, he was dropped from the Eagles team and was signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers on August 31, 2014. With the help of Steelers coach Mike Tomlin, Villanueva turned his game around. a defensive pass to an offensive tackle position for his impressive size. He’s still on the books with the Pittsburgh Steelers having signed a four-year contract extension worth $24 million in 2017.

In 2017, a feud erupted between President Donald Trump and National Football League (NHL) players when he called on players to kneel during the singing of the national anthem – Star Spangled Banner – to be fired. . The basic story is that some players have joined Colin Kaepernick on his team. protest against police brutality against black people and people of color – protest starting in September 2016.

Kaepernick and his fellow protesters would kneel, lock hands or raise a clenched fist skyward as the US national anthem is played (a pre-game ritual before all NFL games). As the protest escalated, it became a polarizing topic as some supported it and some did not. President Trump’s comments also compounded the problem, and NFL players decided to take a stand against the president.

And so on September 24, 2017, in a game against the Chicago Bears, the Pittsburgh Steelers, not wanting to be drawn into the drama, decided to stay in the tunnel after the national anthem. But while the other teammates remained in place, Alejandro Villanueva was seen at the entrance to the tunnel, his right hand on his chest, in tribute to the American flag.
