Alejandro Villanueva Martín was born on September 22, 1988 in Meridian, Mississippi. He was born in a naval air base because his father, Ignacio Villanueva, worked for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) as a naval officer. His mother, Matilda Martin was a housewife. He is the eldest of his parents’ four children and his siblings are Paloma, Iñaki and Carmen Villanueva. Alejandro is of Spanish descent, as are both of his parents.

Military career

After Alejandro Villanueva completed his training at the United States Military Academy (better known as WestPoint), where he earned his degree in Systems Engineering, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army on 22 May 2010. When Alejandro graduated from the United States Military Academy at Westpoint in 2010, he attempted to play football but was not drafted in the 2010 NFL Draft. He then attempted to land a contract with the Bengals of Cincinnati. Villanueva then decided to return to the army. After his military service, he gave football another chance, this time with the Chicago Bears, but he has yet to qualify. After attending an NFL scout gathering in Georgia, he was among 240 candidates selected for the next regional gathering in Detroit.
