Atif Aslam is a well-known Pakistani singer and movie star who made his film debut in the social drama Bol in 2011. He has also recorded a lot of very popular songs and is very famous for his vocal belting technique. Aslam is known to sing mostly in Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu and rarely in Bengali.

Biography (Age)

Atif Aslam was born on March 12, 1983 into a very strict Punjabi Muslim family in Wazirabad, Punjab, Pakistan. He started his education at Kimberly Hall School, Lahore in 1991. He had to be transferred when his family moved to Rawalpindi, where he continued his education at St. Paul’s Cambridge School, Satelite Town Rawalpindi. He then returned to Lahore where he continued his studies at the Divisional Public School. After high school, Aslam studied PICS and obtained a bachelor’s degree in computer science.

Aslam began to sing in public during his days at PICS where he met a guitarist and a very young composer, Goher Mumtaz with whom he created a great musical synergy. After playing in various clubs and bars, they eventually formed a band which they named Jal which is a Hindi word for ‘working together’. The duo released their debut song “Aadat” with the help of Salman Albert among other top Pakistani musicians.

The video for the song “Aadat” was shot in a warehouse in Karachi and within a very short span of time the song became very popular on Pakistani sites and immediately went viral online making Aslam a household name. , but also from the Jal group .

The success of “Aadat” prompted the band to continue touring around Pakistan. During the tour, personal issues between lead singer Aslam and composer Mumtaz led to an indefinite breakup without notice. Which led Aslam to go solo as Mumtaz continued to use the group name Jal

After his separation from the group, Aslam released his first solo album titled Jal Pari which means mermaid on July 17, 2004, the album became an instant hit in Pakistan. Many songs from his album, like Bheegi and Yaadein, to name a few, became hit songs all over the Middle East. After the success of her first solo album, Aslam also recorded two more successful solo albums: Doorie and Meri Kahani.

After his very successful release as a musician in 2004, Aslam achieved his breakthrough in Bollywood when the famous director Mahesh Bhatt asked for his consent to include Woh Lamhey The soundtrack of his new film in 2005 was successful, the song becoming a hit, especially the remixed version.
