Benjamin Geza Affleck-Boldt, commonly known as Ben Affleck, was born on August 15, 1972 in Berkeley, California, United States of America. Ben’s father, Timothy Byers Affleck, was a man of many talents. He worked many jobs at Harvard to provide for his family. while his mother Christopher Anne (née Boldt) was an elementary school teacher educated at Harvard. Ben’s father was probably where he got his exposure to the acting/showbiz world, as he was an aspiring playwright working for the Theater Company of Boston as an actor and stage manager.
Ben’s family moved to Massachusetts when he was only three years old, and this was the city where his younger brother Casey was born in 1975. His father had problems with alcoholism when he was young, and he recalled seeing his father drinking and getting drunk every day. His father’s addiction to the bottle was probably one of the reasons his parents divorced in 1984. Ben and his brother Casey went to live with their mother after that.
Ben Affleck attended Cambridge Rindge and Latin School in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where he completed his high school diploma. He was inspired by his acting teacher to take part in theatrical productions during his school years. He met his longtime friend Matt Damon in high school and they have remained friends ever since. He received admission to the University of Vermont, Burlington in the United States, where he studied Spanish. He left the institution after injuring his hip while playing basketball.
