American actress Betty Gilpin is one of the Hollywood actresses who was exposed to acting at a young age – her parents were entrenched in the industry even before she was born. She was born on July 21, 1986 in New York City, where she grew up with two siblings, Sam and Harry.
Betty attended Fordham University and graduated in 2008. She has acted off-Broadway in theater productions such as I’ll Pray So Hard for You , We Live Here, and Heartless. Betty made her television debut in a 2006 episode of Law & Order: Criminal Intent and has since featured in other series including Law & Order: SVU , Medium, Elementary School, and Masters of Sex. One of her most famous roles is as Doctor Carrie Roman in the medical comedy-drama series, Nurse Jackie, in which she appeared in 34 episodes.
The beautiful lady has also appeared in two episodes of American Gods , a fantasy TV series based on the Neil Gaiman novel of the same name. She played Audrey, best friend of Laura Moon (Emily Browning’s character).
Gilpin is currently one of the main cast members in the Netflix comedy web television series. GLOW began airing on June 23, 2017. In the series, which was inspired by the 1980’s female wrestling league of the same name, Betty stars as Debbie Eagan. She did a great job of bringing the character to life and illuminating the show in a special way.
Her role in GLOW seems to be the beginning of her meteoric rise in Hollywood. She was recently cast as Whitney in the film Ain’t It Romantic? , which will be released on February 14, 2019. She also starred in Jaime Greenberg’s indie film, Future ’38 .

Betty Gilpin is the daughter of Ann McDonough (mother) and Jack Gilpin (father), both New York stage actors. Her mother starred in the 1987 drama/comedy film Moonstruck and also appeared in episodes of All My Children and Law & Order: SVU while her father appeared in widely known television series such as Law & Order, Law & Order: Task Force for Victims , and Law & Order: Criminal intent. He also had roles in the films Quiz Show and 21.
In addition to acting, Betty’s father is also an ordained priest and a Reverend. He preaches at St. Johns Episcopal Church in New Milford, Connecticut. He was ordained a priest on December 15, 2012, but was previously a lay minister at Christ Church in Roxbury, Connecticut.
The actress is married to actor/assistant director Cosmos Colyer Pfeil. He was born on December 9, 1977 in Shoreham, Vermont, USA and is known for his roles in Legal Limits, Person of Interest (2011) and Take Shelter (2011).
They first met on the set of Betty’s first film, The Northern Kingdom and the duo acted as siblings in the film. During an interview with Interview Magazine, Betty Gilpin said her parents, who are auditioning for part of the film, urged her to audition for a role written for a 19-year-old.
She decided to give it a try, so she put her name down on the application form and to her pleasant surprise, she was cast for the role. Her excitement extended beyond the role as she also got an agent and met the man who eventually became her husband through the job.
After a few months of dating, they decided to tie the knot and eventually got married on August 6, 2016 with family, friends and co-workers in attendance.
