Bobby Roode WWE (The Glorious) Bio
Robert Francis Roode Jr. was born in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada on May 11, 1977. Robert grew up with a love for the sports world and played high school and college hockey.
Roode spent a year under the tutelage of Canadian wrestling greats Sean Morley and Shane Sewell before he began appearing for various independent promotions in Canada. Bobby also appeared for the Puerto Rican promotion World Wrestling Council before signing for TNA Wrestling (also known as Impact Wrestling) in 2004.
In his early years with TNA, Bobby was the manager of the heel wrestling stable, Team Canada. His lead role in the group soon earned him the title – The Canadian Enforcer. They went on to fight likes of Team USA at the World Cup in 2004 and had ongoing feuds with stables like America’s Most Wanted and 3Live Kru (who later added a fourth member to become 4Live Kru) , winning and losing some against both groups.
The stable was eventually disbanded in July 2006 by TNA Executive Director Jim Cornette after losing an eight-man tag team match to Team 3D, Jay Lethal and Rhino. After the group disbanded, Roode began calling himself “Robert Roode” and chose Traci Brooks as his manager. Over time, he formed alliances with various wrestlers and stables. He had also drawn feuds with Booker T, Kaz, Kevin Nash and possibly former allies Christian Cage and Eric Young.
His growing misogynistic attitude towards Traci Brooks eventually saw them part ways, replacing her with Ms. Payton Banks, a woman known and referred to as the No. 1 fan. This alliance also ended in 2008 when the wrestler began abusing her while like its predecessor.
In 2008, Roode and James Storm – who had teamed up to form Beer Money Inc. – won their first TNA World Tag Team Championship by defeating The Latin American Stock Exchange. The group saw no further titles and went on to fight for the Tag Team Championship lining up with Ric Flair’s Team Flair Stable and Hulk Hogan’s Immortal Stable. They finally regained the title on January 9, 2011.
On July 13, 2011, Beer Money officially became the longest reigning tag team champion after overtaking former record holders AJ Styles and Tomko.
