Biography (Age)
Brendan Peter Schaub was born on March 18, 1983 in Aurora, Colorado to the small family of Debra and Peter Schaub. His mother is English and his father is American. In addition to being English, the retired fighter is also of German and Italian descent.
Schaub spent his formative years in Colorado and attended Overland High School. During his school days, he practiced sports such as soccer. He continued his athletic achievements in college, at both Whittier College and the University of Colorado. After college, Schaub ran for the 2006 NFL Draft, but was unlucky to not be selected. He briefly joined the Buffalo Bills’ practice squad, but still wasn’t progressing.
Realizing his NFL dreams were in effect, Brendan Schaub returned to Colorado and began training in boxing and jiu-jitsu. Competing against sports like fish to water, he won his first title in just six months. This was the Colorado Heavyweight Golden Gloves he won in 2008. Schaub did not let his immediate success rest, but continued his training. He also chose mixed martial arts and won his first four fights. This impressive streak immediately caught the attention of the UFC, who called him up for their 2009 reality fight series, The Ultimate Fighter.
Brendan Schaub went all the way into the competition but lost the final to Roy Nelson. Since making his MMA debut on June 13, he has competed in a total of 15 fights, winning ten and losing five. Seven of his victories came by KO, one by assist and two by decision. The Colorado native has since retired and announced his retirement on Joe Rogan’s podcast in 2015.
