According to records, she chose her first name “Brett” from the novel “The Sun Also Rises”, a 1926 work of fiction written by American author Ernest Hemingway while the actress’ chosen last name “Somers” is said to be her mother’s maiden name. She started as a theater performer after joining the Actors Studio in 1952.

Most of his early projects were primarily in television shows such as Robert Montgomery Presents, Kraft Television Theater, Playhouse 90, and Philco’s Television Theater . Brett Somers eventually scored his first Broadway role in the play, Maybe Tuesday, which was later closed after five performances because it was a flop. Other plays she has appeared in include The Country Girl, The Seven Year Itch, and Happy Ending.

The actress’ youngest son, Adam Somers Klugman (born July 11, 1963) has established himself as an award-winning media strategist and campaign consultant. He currently lives in West Linn, Oregon with his family.

Cause of death

Brett Somers was diagnosed with cancer in 2004, and after a few years of battling the disease, died at her home in Westport, Connecticut on September 15, 2007. The actress died at the age of 83 and is believed to have died stomach and colon cancer. Although Brett is no more, his legacy has continued to live on in the hearts of his family and loved ones.
