BIOGRAPHY
Originally from County Durham where she spent her entire childhood, Charlotte Riley studied from primary to high school at Teesside School. A graduate of the Lamba Theater School in 2007, she also has a degree in linguistics from the University of Durham which she obtained in 2003 after having played in several plays and musicals including one for which she was rewarded in 2004, “Shaking Cecilia.

She began her acting career at age 26, with small roles in various series, notably in Inspector Gently . She made her first feature film in 2008, A Dream Wedding , where she played alongside Jessica Biel and Kristin Scott Thomas . It was in 2009 that she met her future companion Tom Hardy with whom she shared the poster for the TV film Wuthering Heights . They later meet again in the miniseries The Take . Engaged in 2010, they broke up the following year but remained on good terms.

Getting more notable roles in series such as DCI Banks and World Without End , Riley almost reunited with Hardy as Catwoman from The Dark Knight Rises , but the role ultimately fell to Anne Hathaway . However, she was nominated that same year in 2012 at the British Horror Festival for her performance in Entity , by Steve Stone . After a small recurring role in The Town , she was cast in Edge of Tomorrow , starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt .
