Keith Kozart was born in Chicago on the 15th of August 1995. He grew up in a financially unstable family; he was conceived when his mother was only 16, so there is no information available about his father. Later, his grandmother became his legal guardian and got his name from his deceased uncle.

Chief spent most of his early life in a black neighborhood on the south side of Chicago. The city influenced him to start rapping since he was 5 years old. When he was in school, he had already made a name for himself and had a large following. To create music, Keef used his mother’s karaoke machine and borrowed blank tapes from friends and neighbors.

He then signed to Interscope Records in 2013; the deal included 3 albums with development on Keef’s own label, Glory Boyz Entertainment.
In mid-2013 he contributed to a Kanye West album, ‘Fuck Rehab’ with his cousin Mario. His cousin died a few weeks later and Keef dedicated the video to Mario Hess. Soon after, Keef made the decision to produce his own music.

Keef then released one of his major works in ‘Back from the Dead’, which was critically acclaimed. This followed with ‘Big Gucci Sosa’ and ‘Back from the Dead 2’. In 2015, he announced his new album ‘The Cozart’ and signed with ‘FilmOn’. During that time, he was performing all over the country and collaborating with various artists. Later in 2016, to the surprise of fans, he announced his retirement from music.

When Keef was 16 years old, he became the father of a child, since he had separated from his girlfriend. Subsequently, he gave birth to two more children and there have only been rumors about his partner.
