If there is a list of action movie stars with skill and talent, the list will not be complete without mentioning Chuck Norris. He is a legendary actor who has traveled the industry and entertained us with his great martial arts and acting skills.

Carlos Ray Norris popularly known as Chuck Norris was born on March 10, 1940 in Ryan, Oklahoma. His parents were Ray Morris and Wilma Scarberry. His father was a mechanic and driver who fought for the US Army during World War II. At the age of twelve he moved with his younger brothers (Wieland and Aaron) and their mother to Prairie Village, Kansas and later to Torrance, California. His parents divorced when he was sixteen and the responsibility of helping his mother care for his siblings fell on him.

He attended North Torrance High School and his interest in martial arts began when he was posted to Osan Air Base in South Korea as an Air Policeman when he transferred to the US Air Force in 1958. During his time in South Korea, he trained in Tang Soo Do and learned other aspects of the martial arts. He left the force in 1962.

After serving in the Air Force with theHe competed in martial arts competitions and initially wasn’t as victorious as he would have liked, but over time he became almost unbeatable and won awards as well. He also received the award for Fighter of the Year. His love of martial arts led him to open schools where people would be trained to learn the art.

Bruce Lee met him in 1968 and they became friends from then on. The Destructive Crew was his first film as an actor in 1969. His knowledge of martial arts made him more popular with action film lovers. He has a burgeoning career in the industry and his other films and shows are; Good Guys Wear Black – A 1978 film in which he starred , A Power of One (1979), The Octagon (1980), Silent Fury (1982), Wind in the Fire (1993), The Tailor (2006) and so many others.

Besides martial arts and acting, Norris is also a great writer who has written several books on politics, bodybuilding, martial arts, novels and also Christian books.

It became very popular on the internet in early 2005 when Ian Spector, a web developer, turned the actor he dubbed into a satirical factoid Chuck Norris Facts and it actually went viral. Chuck Norris: Join Us is a video game created by the actor from Gameloft. Norris has also done commercials for several companies.

He is also a great philanthropist who has contributed a great deal to society. His main goal for a martial arts school is to build children’s self-esteem to avoid engaging in sick activities such as drugs and others.

His other philanthropic act is his support for various foundations such as Make A-Wish Foundation, Vijay Amritraj Foundation, an Indian foundation that gives hope to innocent defenseless children facing sick circumstances and tragedies. He is also involved in missions and various institutions.

In 1958, at the age of 18, Chuck Norris got married to Dianne Kay Holechek, his 17-year-old classmate from North Torrance High School whom he met in 1956. They had one son together, Mike, who was born in 1962. While still married to his wife, he had an affair that produced his daughter in 1963. Erica, born in 1964, is the second child he has had with his wife. They stayed for 30 years and then separated in 1988, eventually resulting in a divorce in 1989.

He remarried in 1998 to a younger Gena O’Kelley, who was a model. Chuck Norris is 23 years younger than Gena and they have twins born on August 30, 2001. Gena also has two children from her previous marriage.
