Age, early childhood and rise to fame

Clive James Standen was born in a British Army based in Holywood, County Down, Northern Ireland, on July 22, 1981, to a British Army officer and his wife, but grew up in Leicestershire, East Midlands, in England. Long before realizing his dream of becoming an actor, he nurtured a passion for combat sports, training and competing at different levels.

Standen attended King Edward VII School, MeltonMowbray and later took a performing arts course at Melton Mowbray College. From the age of 11, he practiced Muay Thai every day and even went to Thailand at 16 to train. He also trained in stunts, stage fighting, horse riding, sword fighting and worked on a professional stunt team in Nottingham. In his late teens, he was a former international Muay Thai boxer and gold medalist in fencing. His experiences in martial arts, stunts, as well as the contemporary dance classes he took in college would eventually pay off in his career.

In time, he was seduced by acting and decided to seek a career in it. He joined the National Youth Theater and the National Youth Music Theater and performed in productions at many famous venues. He went on to complete a 3-year degree in performance at the Academy of Music and Drama in London. His theater credits include The Invention of Love (2006), West Side Story (2000) and The Ballad of Salmon Cobblestone (1999-2000).

His professional career finally took off in 2004; he made his television debut with Marching the D before and on the big screen Ten Days Before D-Day. In the following years Clive had minor roles in many works including Doctors, Tom Brown’s Studies, Zero Hour, the British science fiction Doctor Who where he portrayed Private Carl Harris, Heroes and Villians, and a role supporting role in the 2007 Bollywood film Namastey London. He played the brother of main character Robin Hood in the BBC Robin Hood TV seriesand was cast in the lead role as the famous Sir Gawain in the TV series, Camelot in 2010.

His other credits include the 2012 Vertigo Films feature, Hammer of the GodsAtlantis, the lead role in Vikings as Rollo, Bryan Mills in the TV adaptation of Liam Neeson’s similarly titled thriller – TakenEverest, Patient Zero, and in Like Flynn. In addition to his screen roles, Clive Standen has also done voice acting for video games such as Aliens vs. Predator and Inversion

Clive Standen Family, Wife and Children

Standen married the wife of his youth, Francesca. He feels lucky to find the woman of his dreams early on, and ever since he got her, he hasn’t looked back. For the couple who married in 2007 at Babington House, they are happily ever after.

Before the duo ended up tying the knots, Clive Standen’s proposal was a dream tale. On that fateful day, the actor dressed up as Elvis Presley, his girlfriend’s favorite celebrity at the time, and sang the song Fools Rush In. While still in the ecstasy of the moment, he raised the question. There might not have been a big ring at the time, but he made sure every moment felt great.

They’ve been married for over a decade, but for them it feels like yesterday. Clive always cooks for his wife on the weekends and takes every opportunity to spend time with his family. They live in London with their three children. two sons, Hayden (2003) and Rafferty (2011) and one daughter, Edie (2007).
