BIOGRAPHY
Born in London into a wealthy family, Damian Lewis decided to become an actor when he was 16 and formed his own theater troupe. He then rubbed shoulders with the world of work and then undertook trips to the United States and Africa. From 1990 to 1993, he trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and after obtaining his diploma joined the prestigious Royal Shakespeare Company, which led him to perform on stage regularly. The beginner actor immediately took his first steps in front of the camera: notably in the film Robinson Crusoe with Pierce Brosnan and the very good TV film Warriors in which he played a soldier (a type of role that he would take on several times with flying colors). in his career).

A theater actor above all, Damian Lewis continues to participate in numerous plays. Among them, “Hamlet”, alongside Ralph Fiennes in the title role. A certain Steven Spielberg then noticed him, and decided to give him the role of Major Richard D. Winters, hero of the Second World War in the HBO series Brothers in Arms (2001). A quality performance allowing him to obtain an Emmy Award. Building on this success, the actor then made his first appearance on the big screen, through the SF film Dreamcatcher (2003), based on a novel by Stephen King .

The actor continues his momentum by carrying the English series “The Forsyte Saga”, a gigantic fresco of British society from the end of the 19th century to the first decades of the 20th adapted from the famous novels by John Galsworthy . On the cinema side, he has had several quality performances in various film productions, including the moving Keane (2004) where Damian plays a man trying to find his missing daughter, and the prison film Ultime Evasion (2008) in which he plays an inmate as sadistic as it is dangerous.

The year 2007 marked a decisive turning point in his career, since he was chosen to play the main character in the series Life broadcast on NBC. Even if this intelligent detective series only lasts 2 seasons, Damian’s performance, in the role of a police inspector recently released from prison after having spent 12 years there for a crime he did not commit, is more that convincing.

Four years later, the comedian gained popularity again by co-starring in the Showtime series Homeland . Playing a soldier returning to the United States after being taken prisoner by the Taliban for eight years, Damian bursts into the screen. His ambiguous relationship with the character ofClaire Danes , a CIA agent who suspects him of having been transformed into a terrorist during his captivity, is at the heart of both the public and critical success of this cult series. For the occasion, Lewis won the Golden Globe for best actor.

In 2015, the London native slipped into the shoes of Henry VIII in the historical mini-series In the Shadow of the Tudors . The following year, he was one of the two main characters in Billions , which took place in the very cinematic world of finance. He plays one of the most powerful investment fund managers in the United States who finds himself in the crosshairs of Chuck Rhoades ( Paul Giamatti ), a federal prosecutor from New York. The series enjoyed solid success, both critically and publicly.

At the same time, the London native starred in the films Queen of the Desert , An Ideal Traitor and Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood by Quentin Tarantino , where he appeared furtively in the role… Of actor Steve McQueen !
