Danny Welbeck is a professional footballer who currently plays in the English Premier League for Arsenal.

The injury-prone striker, who can also play as a winger, represents England at international level despite his direct links to Ghana through both parents. Coincidentally, Welbeck made his senior debut for England in a game against Ghana at Wembley Stadium.

the biography

Danny Welbeck was born Daniel Nii Tackie Mensah Welbeck on 26 th November 1990 in Longsight, Manchester, UK to Elizabeth Tumtuo and Victor Chris Welbeck. Her father, Victor, is from the Greater Accra region of Ghana, while her mother, Elizabeth, is from Nkawie in the Ashanti region of Ghana.

Welbeck grew up in a middle-class home which encouraged his dream of becoming a footballer. He started playing for local side Fletcher Moss before joining Manchester United’s Youth Academy aged 8. He played for different Manchester United youth teams where his natural skills shone and caught the attention of senior players like Ruud Van Nistelrooy and Roy Keane., who took the time to advise the young boy.

During the 2005-06 season, Welbeck took part in the Manchester Under-18. The following year he signed his first trainee contract and was almost immediately promoted to the reserve team. He then made his senior debut for United in the 2007–08 season, playing bit parts.

The bit parts roles continued until January 2010, when he was loaned out on short-term to secure some much-needed first team action. He joined Championship side Preston North End, managed by Sir Alex Ferguson’s son, Darren Ferguson. It was during his time there that his injury issues started to surface. Having suffered from Osgood-Schlatter disease, Danny Welbeck suffered from swelling in his knee. His loan deal was immediately cut as he had to return to his parent club to undergo surgery.

In August of the same year, he joined Sunderland on a one-year loan deal for the 2010–11 season. He used this opportunity to score some important goals for his new club, which prompted him to be substituted for the England national team before Ghana could tie him up. Welbeck, however, had more injury problems and was due to make just 28 appearances for Sunderland before returning to Manchester United for treatment.

Danny Welbeck returned to Manchester United for the following campaign and was given a starting role alongside Wayne Rooney. He played 39 games in total that season, scoring 12 times to make it his most prolific season with the club. From then until the end of the 2013-14 season, Welbeck never seemed to reach the heights he had hoped for, as it was hard to find playing time. He was out of his preferred position.

Transfer deadline September 2014, Welbeck left Manchester for London and joined Arsenal for around £16million. After being compared to former Arsenal strikers Emmanuel Adebayor and Nwankwo Kanu, Welbeck was happy to have joined the club of his childhood hero, Thierry Henry. He worked very hard to prove his critics wrong, but was again hit with an injury.

Danny Welbeck continues to show signs of being a brilliant world-class player, everyone thought, but it’s only if he manages to stay fit that he will manage to reach those heights.

Personal life – girlfriend

Danny Welbeck has always preferred to let the world know very little about his personal life. Since he was in the spotlight to play for Manchester United, no tabloid publication has ever linked him with a girl. Our closest story to a potential girlfriend story is when he got into a fight on Twitter with a Canadian-based Nigerian named Opeoluwa.

The fight started when the girl posted a picture of the football star saying he was stupid and irritating and Danny responded, fueling the fight. It only lasted a few minutes, as the girl immediately deleted the photo from her profile.
