Dansby Swanson is a professional baseball player currently with the Major League Baseball (MLB) Atlanta Braves as his stopover. He turned pro in 2015 after the Arizona Diamondbacks first selected him overall in the 2015 Major League Baseball draft, before selling him to the Braves in the 2015/2016 offseason.

Biography (Age)
Dansby was born on February 11, 1994 in Kennesaw, Georgia as James Dansby Swanson. He is the youngest of three children born to his parents – Cooter and Nancy Swanson. His two older siblings are Lindsey (sister) and Chase (brother).
He is an alumnus of Marietta High School and Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee. Dansby Swanson literally grew up on the pitch as both of his parents are athletes, including his older siblings. His mother played tennis and basketball in college, his father and older brother were both college baseball players, while his older sister Lindsey played softball.
Career, trade and statistics
Haven grew up in a family where everyone was Dansby, it was easy for Dansby to do the same. As a child, he was a huge fan of major professional sports teams in Atlanta, including MLB’s Braves, NFL’s Falcons, and NBA’s Hawks. While in high school, he played basketball and baseball.
In 2012, he was selected to the 38th session of the Major League Baseball draft in 2012 by the Colorado Rockies, but he refused to sign the deal and went to Vanderbilt University where he played on the baseball team. As a freshman, he was only able to play eleven matches due to a foot bone injury and a torn labrum in his unthrown shoulder. In 2014, as a sophomore, he was named College World Series Most Outstanding Player for the Southeastern Conference after leading the team to a win over the Virginia Cavaliers in the 2014 World Series.
In 2015, he became the recipient of the 2015 Golden Spikes Award – an award given annually to the top college baseball player in the nation. That same year, Swanson became the Arizona Diamondbacks’ first overall selection for the 2015 Major League Baseball Draft.
Due to a facial injury he suffered while playing against Yoan López in a mock game, Dansby Swanson’s professional debut had to wait until August 2015 to be played in the league’s Hillsboro Hops game. Northwest Class A-Short Season. He played in 22 total games this season, finishing with a .289 batting average, one home run, 14 walks and eleven RBIs.
Just three months after his first appearance with the Arizona Diamondbacks, Swanson and two other teammates – Aaron Blair and Ender Inciarte were traded to Atlanta Braves for Gabe Speier and Shelby Miller. He was sent to Spring training with the Carolina Mudcats. At the end of training, he recorded 0.33/0.41/0.56 shots in 21 appearances and was promoted to the Mississippi Braves of the AA Southern League class.
In June 2016, Dansby was nominated for the All-Star Futures Game, and after playing the Southern League All-Star Game for about a month, the Braves announced he would then move to the major leagues and receive the No. 2 jersey. That same month (August), he made his first appearance and recorded his first major league success with Minnesota Twins pitcher Kyle Gibson. At the end of the league, he recorded the following: a .302 batting average, .361 on-base percentage, and .803 on base plus slugging percentage.
Prior to the start of the 2017 season, Dansby announced that he would once again wear his #7 varsity jersey and no longer the #2 jersey previously assigned to him. The 2017 season was not one of Swanson’s best seasons. In May, he struggled to record a .185 batting average. He improved the following month (June) and quickly supported Johan Camargo. In July, he was sent to Gwinnett Braves where he was scheduled to play every day, but was soon recalled following an injury suffered by Camargo. However, in May 2018, Swanson was placed on the 10-day disabled list due to a sprained left wrist.

Dansby stands 1.85m tall and weighs 77kg. The handsome player has one of the most stunning textures and many believe his hair has earned him more attention than his career, but Dansby disagrees with that notion.

His girlfriend
Dansby Swanson is currently in a relationship with a girl named Kara Sheft. Kara is also a Vanderbilt graduate and the couple met at Vanderbilt where they attended and started dating. The lovebirds are seen on almost every occasion together.
It is said that Sheft is currently studying to be a Doctor of Physical Therapy at Belmont University. Prior to dating Kara, Dansby had previously been linked to a young announcer named Katy Huffman. They would be together for two years before calling it quits.
