Before boarding the entertainment train, he went to DenverPyle, an American artist, wandered from job to job in search of a living and even joined a band as a drummer. In fact, Denver has done everything from working on shrimp boats in Texas to working in the Oklahoma oil field. The advent of World War II then prompted him to enlist in the United States Merchant Marines.

His first acting experience was in the theater as an amateur artist, however, he was fortunate to be spotted by a talent scout and later trained under the tutors of notable names such as Michael Chekhov and Maria Ouspenskaya. He made his big screen debut on the set of The Blame of Janet Ames which was released in 1947. Until his death he appeared in several films and series such as; Bonanza (1959), Gunsmoke (1955), The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams (1977) and The Dukes of Hazzard (1979).

The late artist was born on May 11, 1920 in Bethune, Colorado United States. He was of American nationality with white ethnicity. He was born to Ben H. Pyle, who made his living as a farmer and whose mother’s name was Maude. Denver Pyle had a brother named Willis Pyle who worked as an animator at UPA and Walt Disney Animation Studios. After graduating from high school, he attended Colorado State University to further his education, but dropped out after a short time. He made a conscious decision to get into show business and had made a name for himself in the entertainment industry before his death.

The family life of the deceased actor can besummarized in two marriages. His first attempt at marriage was in 1955 when he tied the knot with Marilee Carpenter. The duo had two sons – David and Tony Pyle before their union ended in 1970. Denver married Tippie Johnson in 1983 and their union lasted until his death in 1997.

Through his sons, David joined the US Navy and is currently a Master Chief Petty Officer. He lives in Newport Beach, California and has four children – Annie, Henry, Willie and Mary Lynn. His second son also lives in Orange County, California and owns a successful corporate transportation business. He’s the one with the performing arts bent, he’s into writing and voiceovers.

The Death of Denver Pyle

The famous actor’s death occurred on Christmas Day 1997 in Burbank, California, USA at the age of 77. His cause of death is lung cancer. His memorial service was held on January 6, 1998 at First Baptist Church in Waxahachie, Texas. Burial was at Forreston Cemetery in Forreston Ellis County, in an unmarked grave next to that of his in-laws (his second wife’s mother and father). Denver’s Christmas gifts for this year were auctioned off on eBay. The proceeds went to charities.

Denver had been a sponsor of Uncle Jesse’s fishing tournament. The competition, always held in Lamar County, Texas, has raised over $160,000 for children’s programming in its first 10 years. It made its debut in 1988 and is still functional. In 2017, it celebrated its 30th anniversary and became involved with children’s charities, particularly in Lamar County.

Denver has a star in his honor on the MotionPicture Unit of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, dedicated December 12, 1997 at 7083 Hollywood Blvd. The Texas Senate passed a resolution honoring him and his spouse for their good work with Denver Pyle’s Children’s Charities as well as for the Special Olympics.
