More often than not, the spouses of famous people, although famous in their own right, chose to operate under the radar. Dinah Mattingly, the wife of former basketball player and Hall of Famer Larry Bird, is one of those who chose to spotlight their partner. She is the second wife of Larry Bird and the two have been married since 1989. Together they adopted two children – find out more facts about Dinah below; from her youth to her family and other interesting facts to know about the woman.

Dinah Mattingly Bio

Dinah Mattingly is an American national born on November 16, 1954, under the sign of the zodiac Scorpio. In typical Dinah covert fashion, the celeb’s wife didn’t reveal any details about her early years or family background. It seems like she’s content to be the wife of the NBA. It’s also unclear what she’s up to in terms of her career.

After high school, she enrolled at Indiana State University where she graduated in 1975. What she studied or even what degree she earned is unknown. This is, however, inconsequential as Dinah has proven to be a good wife and mother to both her daughter-in-law and her children.

She attends most Indiana Pacers games alongside her husband and has been a boxing mainstay for some time.

Family – husband and children

Dinah Mattingly became Larry Bird’s missus in 1989 after tying the knot in a private ceremony in Indiana. The duo are said to have met at Indiana State University where they were both students. Although this is Dinah’s first marriage, her husband was married once before making her his second wife.

Her first marriage was short-lived and lasted only two years. He was married to Janet Condra, his high school sweetheart, and they had a daughter named Corrie who was born on August 14, 1977, before their marital walls crumbled. The timeline of their relationship, as well as the reason for their divorce, was only released to both parties.

It’s no secret that Larry Bird is a famous basketball player and one of the greatest small forwards in the history of the game. He played his entire career with the Bolton Celtics and after retiring in 1992 after having suffered from back injuries, he became a coach. As a player, he won three NBA championships, three MVP Awards, with twelve NBA All-Star appearances, among many other accolades. With his playing and coaching days firmly behind him, Bird is the current executive and president of the Indiana Pacers basketball team. Additionally, he is celebrated as the only person to be named NBA Rookie of the Year, MVP, Coach of the Year, and Executive of the Year.

Dinah Mattingly adopted two children alongside her husband; their daughter Mariah and their son whom they named Conner. Their son made headlines in February 2013, but for all the wrong reasons. He was arrested after allegedly trying to hit his ex-girlfriend with a car at Indiana University. They got into several arguments and after she got out of the car, he tried to hit her. He pleaded guilty to battery with bodily harm, criminal mischief, intimidation with a deadly weapon and possession of marijuana. His sentence was deferred and he was later released.

On the other hand, Mariah was in the news in 2014 after a publication confused her with Bird’s girlfriend. The two were pictured at a basketball game with Mariah’s hand on her leg. Pretty clumsy, right? That’s what Dinah Mattingly must have thought at the time.
