His mother, Margaret Lewis, is a former IT professional. Like most children who grew up in his neighborhood, Lewis attended several private schools.

Lewis never thought of acting as a career or even that he had what it took to become one until an actor friend pointed it out to him. At the friend’s suggestion, Lewis and his mother contacted Shuller Talent Agency, an agency specializing in gifted children for television commercials.

The agency immediately fell in love with Lewis’s face and personality as they thought he was worthy of commercials. Lewis then began his acting career in commercials for bands like Campbell’s Soup, Burger King, Life Cereal, Colgate and many more.

Emmanuel had his first acting job in theater – Joseph Papp’s Shakespeare Festival in New York, production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. He then started appearing on nightly talk shows like The Tonight Show.

In 1983 Lewis was selected to star in the ABCWebster sitcom which would eventually become the biggest break of his career. Although 12 years old, Lewis’ stature made him step into the role of a 6-year-old adopted child raised by white parents. The series ended in 1987 after 6 seasons and 150 episodes. The Stu Silver-created show went into syndication from 1987 to 1989.

After Webstar, Lewis graduated from high school, attending Midwood High School in 1989. He immediately enrolled at Clark Atlanta University, where he earned a degree in theater arts in 1997. Lewis’s college years ran out because he is absent from time to time to accept concerts.

After graduating from college, Lewis found it difficult to land regular roles, due to his short stature which still made him look like the kid from Webster. However, he has appeared on numerous television shows, including Family Matters (1997), Moesha (1998), Malcolm & Eddie (1999), and The Surreal Life (2003). A taekwondo practitioner, Lewis himself appeared on a television episode of The Weakest Link (2001).

Over the years, Lewis’ activity only decreased, as he was successful only in cameo roles.

While Americans know him for his acting talent, Lewis has made fans in Japan as a singer. His debut single “City Connection” reached No. 2 in 1981 on the Oricon charts. His last acting work was in 2013 in an episode of Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis.

Emmanuel Lewis Net Worth, Dead or Alive

Lewis’ best years are undoubtedly his Webster days financially. After Webster’s first season, his agent renegotiated a deal giving him a share of the profits, including syndication money.

Despite his Webster fame, Lewis maintained a fairly average lifestyle. His mother drove him to work and home. And thanks to his close-knit family, Webster has been able to stay sane and avoid the post-celebrity issues that have often plagued the lives of child stars.

With his Webster money, Lewis was able to build other businesses, from his own label, Emmanuel Lewis Entertainment, founded in June 2000, to a limousine company and a car wash service.

His absence from Hollywood made phrases like “Is Emmanuel Lewis Dead or Alive? ”, a popular search phrase on Google. To put it plainly, Lewis is truly ALIVE and is more active in his business than behind the scenes than acting.

Sources have estimated his net worth to be between $5,000,000 and $600,000

With a short height that appears to be caused by a medical condition, although it isn’t (endocrinologists say he has every potential for normal growth), fans often wondered if Lewis would be able to find the love even with its average size.

Unfortunately, no information about Lewis’s lovelife has ever been made public. Well, it’s not really a surprise, as he once said in an interview; “I would never really expose any of my friends to the press. Anything I have with them would be very private…”

Emmanuel Lewis also never fathered a child, at least not that the media know about. He also has no verified social media accounts. However, recent images of him often appear on social media.
