Biography and age
Emmanuel Jean-Michel Frèderic Macron was born on December 21, 1977 in Amiens to Jean-Michel and François Macron. Her father is a professor of neurology and her mother is a doctor. Emmanuel has two siblings, one brother – Laurent and one sister – Estelle.
Although raised in a non-religious household, the French politician was baptized at the age of 12 at his own request. Despite this, Emmanuel is currently an agnostic.
Growing up, he repeatedly visited his grandmother, Germaine Noguès; and through her he developed a strong love for the arts. He also credits his grandmother for his love of reading and his political leanings.
Education
With a fairly high intellect, Emmanuel Macron attended the Jesuit Providence high school in Amiens before being transferred to the prestigious Henri-IV high school in Paris where he continued his studies. As expected, Macron achieved high marks and was nominated for the Concours Général – France’s most selective national high school competition. He also received a diploma for his piano studies at the Amiens Conservatory.
The future president of France applied to the École Normale Supérieure, an elite higher education institution, twice, but was denied admission twice. He then chose to attend the University of Paris-Ouest Nanterre La Défense, where he obtained a DEA in philosophy.
In 1999, Emmanuel Macron, who was actively pursuing his apprenticeship, was working as an editorial assistant for Paul Ricoeur, the French Protestant philosopher who was then writing his last remarkable work, La Mémoire, l’Histoire, l’Oubli. After some time, Macron then completed a Masters in Public Orientation and Economics from the Institute of Political Studies in Paris. After which, he began his training at the National School of Administration (ENA) for a career in the senior civil service. He trained at an embassy in Nigeria and an office of the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto in Canada (Oise) before graduating in 2004.

Emmanuel Macron’s career has many successes, from playing in high school to becoming an inspector at the Inspection Générale des Finances (IGF), a branch of the Ministry of Finance in France. He then accepted a better paid position as an investment banker at Rothschild et Cie Banque. His job at Rothschild et Cie Banque was so lucrative that he had earned more than €3 million by the time he left in 2012.
In 2006, Emmanuel Macron had met FrançoisHollande but did not join his staff until 2010. Two years later, when François Hollande became president, he became deputy general secretary at the Élysée, a senior position in the president’s team.
In 2014, he was appointed Minister of Justice, Economy and Finance, replacing Arnaud Montebourg and thus becoming the youngest Minister of Economy since 1962. Emmanuel, who was a member of the Socialist Party, left the party in August 2015 and became independent. A year later, in August 2016, he resigned from his government post ahead of the 2017 elections. In November 2016, he officially declared his intention to run for office.
